Parking orbit
From HomoExcelsior
A temporary orbit for a spacecraft. The spacecraft is then expected to:
perform an injection burn into a higher orbit; break or escape orbit, leaving influence of the body around which it is orbiting; perform a decent burn, to enter (or re-enter) the atmosphere (if it exists) of the body around which it is orbiting and then land.
See suborbital and preorbital trajectories.
