adj. Among spiders, those having the two or more pairs of legs turned anteriorly (forward) rather than ventrally as in most spiders. Laterigrade legs make the spider flatter, and more capable of lying in tight spaces. Characteristic of loxoscelid (brown recluse) and sparassid spiders.
