Gain

The measure of amplification of an electrical signal. A gain of 1 would usually correspond to a doubling (adding 100%) to the signal strength. A gain of 0 would be transferring the signal with no change, sometimes called a "pass-through". Gain is typically expressed in decibels and refers to audio signals, but is not restricted to that meaning alone.
