This place, Homo Excelsor, is a lot like Everything2.com.

Everything2, or E2 for short, is a collection of "nodes" connected by hardlinks, which are manually added into writeups for topics, and softlinks, which are dynamically created as users surf throughout the database.

E2's users are a tight bunch, who submit hundreds of writeups a day. The administration (of which I am part of) removes, edits, and kills writeups and/or users who refuse to follow the loose set of rules set for the database. As a result E2 has one of the highest signal to noise ratios of any publically editted database there is.

There's an Experience system based on XP, which can be gained by voting, being voted on, creating writeups, and by being blessed by the administration. Users over a certain amount of XP get votes, which can be used to award XP; and eventually C!s, which are a sort of "ubervote" to reward particualarly good writeups.
