One of the fundamental physical quantities, electrical charge is expressed in units of Coulombs : that charge exhibited by 6.26 x 10^18 electrons. Static charge is endowed by an excess or deficiency of electrons : an excess of electrons gives an object a negative charge, and a deficiency of electrons gives an object positive charge. The motion of charge through a unit area is called current, given in units of Amperes, defined as Coulombs per second.
